This toolkit promotes an approach to mentoring which is supportive, empowering and places a woman at the centre of her journey towards change.
This toolkit aims to provide guidance on approach, design and practice. While this toolkit provides fundamental elements to a gender-specific mentoring model for offenders and gives insight into the TWP Model, it cannot answer every question. Instead, we encourage services to join the larger discourse around female offender mentoring and deliver responsive services to their service users.
This toolkit was one of the products funded by the National Offender Management Service Voluntary Sector Grants Fund for Volunteering and Mentoring. This project was the result of a NOMs’ initiate to develop mentoring and volunteering services for offenders while advancing a national partnership framework. The creation of this toolkit has been a collaborative approach, using the expertise and experiences of TWP, TWP service users and fellow agencies experienced in delivering gender-specific mentoring throughout England and Wales.
