Job Description

Together Women was set up to offer the courts a community alternative to prison for female offenders. Since we were originally set up, we have learned that issues such as domestic violence and having children removed, can lead women to offend if they are left unsupported. The service we now offer is to any vulnerable women with complex needs and as well as working with offenders we support non offender women. The trainee Key Worker post has been created to allow applicants who may not have the relevant qualifications or experience to develop their skills to become key workers. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be able to undertake all duties of a keyworker after 18 months of being employed by us.

Our core working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm however we expect flexibility as on occasions there may be possible evening and weekend work for which time off in lieu will be given. Occasionally there may be an early start.

This role is to work on the Purple Futures contract which supports women offenders to change their lives away from offending.

The successful applicant will engage with and provide intensive support to women; offering one-to-one support and group work, guidance, information and signposting, and therefore contributing to an improvement in the well-being of the woman and a reduction in offending. Together Women aims to raise aspirations, build confidence and self-esteem, as well as providing access to education, training and employment, housing etc.

The successful applicant will be expected to be proactive in building a network of partners who can offer specialist support to the women that they are working with, build up their knowledge of provision that can be helpful to the women and be proactive in driving the service forward.

The successful applicant will be expected to attend Newhall prison on a rota to see women.

Our team occasionally works off site and so a car driver with access to a car is preferred.
